WASHINGTON - Excitement and anxiety are rising in equal measure in Republican and Democrat camps over an impending photo finish in the first real electoral test of the Biden presidency.

The Nov 2 gubernatorial race in Virginia, a state of more than eight million across the Potomac river from Washington, DC, is also seen as a bellwether for the midterms in Nov 2022, which will decide control of Congress and dozens of state capitals.
