A judge in the United States has sentenced a man to nearly 600 days in jail for going on a profanity-laced tirade.
The man, identified by the media as Darrell Lester Jarrell, was in a Michigan court on Aug 7 to face a trespassing charge.
Washtenaw county judge Cedric Simpson was setting a new hearing date for Jarrell when the latter began his outburst.
Jarrell was reportedly upset that his next court date was in September.
“I’m tired of this state, I’m ready to leave this state as soon as possible,” Jarrell said in live-streamed court footage. “You guys can kiss my a**.”
A shocked Judge Simpson responded: “You know what? No, no, no... You don’t come in here…”
Jarrell interrupted the judge by retorting: “F*** you!”.
“That’s contempt. That’s 93 (days in jail),” Judge Simpson said.
That seemed to enrage Jarrell even more, who repeated the profanity again, prompting the judge to hand him another 93-day sentence.
Jarrell responded with yet more F-bombs, even as he was being led by officers out of the courtroom.
In the end, Judge Simpson handed Jarrell a total of 558 days in jail.
Jarrell is currently in jail, according to People magazine, citing jail records.
It is not known if he has pleaded guilty to the trespassing charge.
