US, China officials meet in bid to move beyond spy balloon episode

WASHINGTON - US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan met China’s top diplomat Wang Yi this week and pledged to keep lines of communication between Washington and Beijing open, in a bid to get relations between the two superpowers back on an even keel after February’s spy balloon dispute.

Analysts said that while the talks did not necessarily signal that US-China relations were improving, they at least helped stabilise their relationship and prevent it from further worsening.
