WASHINGTON - The war in Ukraine has forced many countries in Asia to navigate between Russia and the US-led West - with perhaps the most closely watched as it manoeuvres being China.

And China, on its part, knows - as does the United States - that at the end of the day the US still sees China as its greatest strategic competitor.
