WASHINGTON (AFP) - US President Donald Trump on Thursday (June 4) thanked Iran for freeing a US Navy veteran, saying the release showed the possibility of the arch-rivals reaching a deal.

"Thank you to Iran, it shows a deal is possible!" Trump wrote on Twitter.

Trump said he spoke by telephone with Michael White, who flew out of Iran Thursday after nearly two years in detention.

The United States freed two Iranians this week.
