The United States Supreme Court on Friday (June 24) overturned Roe versus Wade, striking down the constitutional right of American women to an abortion after almost 50 years.

This seismic ruling effectively gives states the power to ban abortions, and is expected to lead to all but total bans on abortion in about half the US states.
