WASHINGTON - The United States is heading into a torrid week, with two events that would normally be relatively uneventful assuming great significance this year - Senate runoff elections in Georgia on Tuesday (Jan 5), and a joint session of Congress in Washington DC on Wednesday (Jan 6).
