America's United Airlines has been fronting headlines after footage of a man being pulled forcibly off one of its flights went viral.

The airline needed to add four of its own staff to the fully booked plane, and so picked four passengers randomly, asking them to leave. When one of them did not comply, the airline called for police to remove him.

The Asian man was dragged down the aisle on his back by his hands, with his shirt and glasses askew. In another clip, he was seen returning to the aircraft with a bloodied face.

The incident prompted fiery questions about passenger rights and airlines' overbooking practices. Many netizens also alleged racism.

But as with so many other things, the Internet took the fiasco and turned it into meme fodder.
