WASHINGTON - The Democratic Party, demoralised in 2016, may have US President Donald Trump to thank for unifying it.

What was evident from four days of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) - that had a surreal futuristic ring to it in this pandemic era as candidates spoke in empty halls or in their own homes but to millions of people - is that the party is much more united than in 2016.
