WASHINGTON – US Vice-President Kamala Harris has seen a boost in her favourability rating among Americans since President Joe Biden’s decision to drop his re-election campaign, according to an ABC News/Ipsos poll conducted on July 26 and 27.
Ms Harris’ favourability rating rose to 43 per cent from 35 per cent a week ago, according to the survey based on a random national sample of 1,200 American adults. Results have a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
The survey found that 42 per cent of respondents were unfavourable towards Ms Harris, down from 46 per cent previously.
The numbers come as her campaign raised US$200 million (S$268 million) in the week since she entered the 2024 presidential contest.
Her Republican rival, former president Donald Trump, saw his favourability rating slide to 36 per cent in the survey, down slightly from 40 per cent immediately following his attempted assassination. BLOOMBERG
