Crowds throng at Thanksgiving Day parade route despite threats

Millions of people line the route of Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in New York, despite calls by Islamic militants for followers to attack the event.

NEW YORK (REUTERS) - An estimated three and a half-million people turned out to celebrate a holiday tradition in New York - the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.

It was the 90th edition of the celebrated event, and featured one of it's newest balloons - Charlie Brown from the cartoon strip, Peanuts. As well as one of its oldest balloons, Felix the cat.

The parade stepped out on time despite calls from Islamic State to attack the parade.
