Steeped in the breathless coverage of the US presidential election and sharp flare-up of tensions in the volatile Middle East, the American media paid but cursory attention to Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s tour of Asia.

But the 11-day tour across six nations, including Singapore, will probably be the last such alliance building in Asia by the Biden administration, which bows out in January 2025.
