Actor Andre Braugher died of lung cancer, says his publicist

Andre Braugher was diagnosed with lung cancer a few months ago before succumbing to the disease.

NEW YORK – Andre Braugher, the Emmy-winning actor who died this week at 61, was diagnosed with lung cancer a few months ago before succumbing to the disease, his long-time publicist, Ms Jennifer Allen, said on Dec 14.
When she confirmed his death, she said he had died after a brief illness.
A 2014 profile by The New York Times Magazine said that Braugher was intensely private and “stopped drinking alcohol and smoking years ago”.
Although he had an expansive career, he was best known for his roles as a stoic, composed police officer on Homicide: Life On The Street (1993 to 1999), the NBC police procedural, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013 to 2021), the Fox sitcom that later moved to NBC.
Braugher won Emmy Awards in 1998 for his work as Detective Frank Pembleton on Homicide and in 2006 for his role as a cool-headed crook in the six-part FX crime thriller Thief.
He was nominated four times for his portrayal of Captain Raymond Holt in Brookyn Nine-Nine. NYTIMES
