bgarab - ANN ARBOR (Michigan) - Pro-Palestinian students staged demonstrations, sit-ins and set up camps at the University of Michigan to protest the invasion of Gaza by Israel. The month-long encampment was broken up by police on May 21, 2024 who said it posed a threat to public safety. The protesters had demanded that the school’s endowment stop investing in companies with ties to Israel but the university insists it has no direct investments there and only a tiny fraction invested in funds that might include companies in Israel.
