Russia's chief negotiator Vladimir Medinsky said Moscow is willing to consider a presidential meeting after "constructive" negotiations with Kyiv in Istanbul.
Ukraine has long sought direct talks between its President Volodymyr Zelensky and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
Yesterday's talks also led to a Russian pledge to cut some of its military operations in Ukraine.
