PRAGUE (REUTERS) - Prague Zoo has pulled off a rare feat, by breeding three baby lemurs, born last month to mother Fanie and father Mandrak.
The critically endangered white-belted ruffed lemurs can become pregnant just one day a year, and rarely conceive in captivity.
There are only very few white-belted ruffed lemurs living in zoos - 88, according to the Prague Zoo. Around 10,000 live in the wild in their native Madagascar, a number that has decreased by more than 80 per cent over the last 20 years.
