Why latest talk of China’s plan for a military facility in Oman makes US sit up again

LONDON – United States intelligence appears to have concluded that China plans to establish a military base in the Gulf state of Oman.

According to a report by news agency Bloomberg, bearing all the hallmarks of a deliberate leak from official Washington sources, US President Joe Biden was recently briefed that Chinese military commanders discussed plans in October to create a base with their Omani government counterparts.
