LONDON – The United States, which together with Britain

has carried out a number of attacks on Houthi rebel bases in Yemen,

determines the pace of the military strikes and any broader diplomatic moves to halt the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.

The snag is that while Britain warned on Jan 23 that it will not hesitate to strike again if the Houthis continue to attack ships in the Red Sea, the authorities in Washington remain conflicted about their next moves.
