The ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, the radical Palestinian militant organisation, represents a significant diplomatic breakthrough, offering much-needed humanitarian respite after 15 months of gruelling war.

However, it remains a fragile, temporary deal; Israel’s government is already accusing Hamas of “reneging” on the agreement, allegedly in an attempt to attract further concessions. The Palestinian movement strenuously denies these accusations.
