ICJ ruling will increase Israel’s diplomatic isolation, but has little impact on the war in Gaza

LONDON - The International Court of Justice’s (ICJ)

ruling on accusations that Israel is engaged in state-led “genocide”

in its military operations against Hamas in Gaza amounts to a legal triumph for South Africa, which brought the case before the world court.

But the “decisive victory” claimed by South Africa is on a finer point of international law and may have little practical impact on the conduct of the Gaza war.
