The city of Tel Aviv invites dog owners to bring a canine date to a special film screening.

TEL AVIV (Reuters) - It's a new kind of outing for these four-legged pets.

They're heading to the movies for a screening of The Secret Life Of Pets hosted by the city of Tel Aviv.

"It is an amazing event, we have 25,000 people in Tel Aviv that have dogs and we decided to do an amazing event just for them. People who have dogs can come here and enjoy a fun evening with their dogs" said event organiser Ruth Hayat.

Residents say events like this help make the city a dog-friendly place to live.

"We were invited to come here and see the movie together with the dog and I think it is really cool because it's so unusual" said dog owner IIya Liz.

Pooch critics haven't weighed in on the film just yet, but it looks like the event definitely gets two paws up.
