BERLIN – When far-right leader Bjorn Hocke took to the stage at an election rally in Oranienburg city, the ground had been prepared.
Amid a cheering crowd in the small eastern city outside Berlin, the speakers before him had railed against migrants, green climate policy, and a government they accused of trying to destroy the nation with its policies.
