LONDON – The European Union (EU) is tightening its pressure on Russia by classifying the violation of its sanctions against Russia by any European-based individual or company as a crime carrying similar penalties throughout the continent.
“EU sanctions must be respected, and those trying to get around them must be punished,” said Ms Vera Jourova, vice-president of the European Commission, the EU’s executive body.
