A 32-year-old crypto mogul was found dead in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv on Oct 11 amid a market crash following US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a 100 per cent tariff on Chinese imports.

Mr Konstantin Galich, the co-founder of Cryptology Key trading academy, was found dead in the city’s Obolonskyi district in a Lamborghini Urus registered to him.

The Ukrainian, who was better known as Kostya Kudo, had a gunshot wound to his head, Kyiv police said in a statement on their Telegram channel on the morning of Oct 11.

They added that they were investigating the circumstances of his death, with the authorities treating the incident as a possible suicide.

The statement noted that a weapon registered to Mr Galich was found next to his body.

Preliminary findings showed that he was an entrepreneur and blogger whose activities were related to cryptocurrency, it added.

As at Oct 13, Mr Galich’s trading academy had more than 105,000 followers on Instagram and over 55,000 subscribers on Telegram.

A statement posted on his official Telegram channel on Oct 11 said: “Konstantin Kudo has tragically passed away. The causes are being investigated.”

In their statement, Kyiv police said that he told his relatives on Oct 10 about his depressed state due to financial difficulties and sent them a farewell message.

Major cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum suffered steep losses over the brutal weekend sell-off.

According to Bloomberg, a record US$19 billion (S$25 billion) in crypto bets were erased and crypto prices tumbled.
