China tries to regain diplomatic ground in Europe with charm offensive in Germany

LONDON – China’s Prime Minister Li Qiang urged Germany’s top businessmen to help elevate links with the Chinese economy “to a new level” during his recent visit to the country.

Undertaking

his first foreign trip since his appointment

in March 2023,

Mr Li tackled head-on claims that, for security reasons, Europe must diversify from dependency on trade with China.
