EDENBRIDGE, KENT (REUTERS) - An effigy of US presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton will be burned to the ground in England.

Every year, on Nov 5, fireworks help to commemorate the attempt by Guy Fawkes and his fellow conspirators to blow up the Houses of Parliament back in 1605.

Now on Bonfire night, as it's known, an effigy is also burned.

The huge cardboard likeness features Donald Trump holding Hillary Clinton's head - and MrTrump is wearing shorts with Mexican hombres painted on them.

Frank Shepherd, artist for The Edenbridge Bonfire Society, said: "Obviously, Trump and Hillary together. That was the contest, so we had to try and include both images and so Hillary Clinton being held by Donald Trump, that was the way we decided to do it and the reference to the Mexicans, obviously the situation down there with his threatening to build a wall, we needed something Mexican, so he's got Mexican shorts."

Mr Trump and Mrs Clinton join a long list of effigies of famous faces, including cyclist Lance Armstrong, Fifa president Sepp Blatter and footballer Wayne Rooney.

The structure will be burned down on Saturday (Nov 5) - just days ahead of the United States election.
