World Health Organisation chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says countries should rein in year-end festivities because letting crowds gather would be a "perfect platform" for the Omicron variant of the coronavirus to spread. It is better to cancel events now and celebrate later "than to celebrate now and grieve later", he said.
