Britain joining trade pact CPTPP has marginal immediate benefits, but opportunities are plentiful

LONDON – Britain has become the first non-founding member of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), a bloc offering free trade access to 500 million people across 11 nations.

“Fantastic news for UK business and consumers as we increase trade with the dynamic Indo-Pacific region, providing the future of global GDP growth,” British Trade Secretary Kemi Badenoch tweeted in the early hours of Friday morning.
