NIGERIA - American taxi-hailing company Uber has launched services in Lagos, Nigeria, connecting drivers with riders through its smart phone app. It is hoping Nigeria could be a growing market by offering a reliable and safer alternative for commuters.
Uber currently operates in about 60 countries around the world, but faces competition in Sub-Saharan Africa from Easy Taxi, a Brazilian start-up.
