MENLO PARK, CALIFORNIA - iFixit took apart an Oculus Rift VR headset to take a look at its intricate interior design.
In the teardown video, infrared dots are revealed which are used to track head movements, including lights on the back of the headset to make the feeling of spinning around in a virtual environment more realistic. There's even a hidden microphone inside of the device.
The video also reveals the headset's motherboard and gives a detailed rundown of its components.
Oculus Rift also incorporates its own specially-designed Fresnel lenses comprised of concentric prisms of uniform thickness.
