SINGAPORE - A special promotion for ST readers to own the new Samsung Galaxy Note 5 4G+ smartphone at half the retail price will only start at noon on Saturday, but over a dozen fans have already started queueing for it on Friday evening.

The number grew to 34 in the queue as of 10.45pm on Friday night.

As part of the Straits Times Appreciates Readers (STAR) programme, The Straits Times and Samsung Singapore are inviting readers who own any two of the previous devices in the Samsung Galaxy Note series - the Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with LTE and Samsung Galaxy Note 4 4G+ - to the Delights @ Civic Plaza Ngee Ann City on Aug 29, to show their phones.

The first 50 to bring any two devices will be able to buy the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 4G+ at 50 per cent off the retail price, which starts at $1,088.

Ten readers who own all four previous Galaxy Note devices will also bring home the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 4g+, as well as the Montblanc Cruise Collection Black Screenwriter S.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 4G+ is the latest flagship device from the Korean handset maker. The device was announced on Aug 13 in New York, and the phone, which has a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels, went on sale here on Aug 15.
