SINGAPORE - Samsung has announced the launch of a smart refrigerator called the Family Hub.
Available from Wednesday (July 11) at $7,499, the smart fridge integrates both Samsung's Bixby voice assistant and SmartThings Internet of Things eco-system.
"With the Family Hub bringing a new level of intelligent connectivity into the home, we hope that consumers will be able to take advantage of the refrigerator's innovative and personalised features to embrace a connected lifestyle," said Miss Joan Ng, Samsung Electronics Singapore's head of digital appliances.
The Family Hub recognises individual voices and provides personalised information. So, when a family member asks the Family Hub about his schedule for the day, the fridge will be able to pull out the correct schedule for that family member.
And with SmartThings, users can control and monitor their smart home. For example, using the fridge's large 21-inch touchscreen display, a user can see who is at the front when the door bell rings using or power up Samsung's PowerBot robot vacuum cleaner.
Users can also see what is inside the fridge remotely, so they can make better grocery shopping decisions.
The Family Hub is also equipped with a Triple Cooling System - an advanced cooling technology that ensures food stays fresher for longer by running optimised temperatures across three different compartments.
The refrigerator also comes with a FlexZone fridge compartment, which can be easily converted from freezer to fridge and back, depending on a user's needs and preferences.
