Nursing administrator Louis Ong, who is in his early 30s, and his wife will not be readying stacks of red packets, or hongbao, to give out this weekend, when Chinese New Year (CNY) starts.
They will instead be giving out e-hongbao and getting their friends and relatives to tap on their smartphone to have their hongbao money transferred directly to their bank accounts.
