Kiria Tikanah Abdul Rahman always busts the weight limit whenever she travels for overseas competitions. Overwhelmed by the options, the 24-year-old has difficulty deciding what to bring and usually ends up packing everything.

The Singaporean epee fencer, who begins her Paris Olympics campaign on July 27, said: “It’s not really superstition but more of a comfort level thing. Sometimes, I don’t feel comfortable wearing this (a particular outfit) during training or competitions because maybe it feels a bit too tight or when I start sweating, it sticks to my skin, it’s a bit uncomfortable.

“That’s why I take a long time to decide which ones I feel the best in. But usually I can’t decide, then I bring everything and decide the day before my competition.”

The Mario keychain was a gift from fencer Kiria Tikanah Abdul Rahman’s mum from Universal Studios and she brings it everywhere with her.
