Singapore welcomed the foreign delegations to the SEA Games on Tuesday, raising the nations' flags in the team welcome ceremonies outside the Kallang Wave Mall at the Singapore Sports Hub.

Decked in red and white shirts, the Singapore contingent was last to raise their flag at 6pm on Tuesday, with the athletes singing the national anthem as the flag was hoisted up.

There were smiles amid the Singapore contingent, who had already secured their first gold and silver medals in table tennis with an all-Singaporean women's doubles final. Lin Ye and Zhou Yihan later went on to beat Feng Tianwei and Yu Mengyu in the finals with a score of 4-3.

With Singapore fielding their largest-ever contingent of 748 athletes competing across 36 sports, chef de mission Dr Tan Eng Liang said: "Our gold medal target must celebrate our 50th anniversary. Therefore, it is quite safe to say that 50 is definitely a target. Anything more than 50 is better, it is a bonus."
