There's a hardscrabble, invisible, uncelebrated lower end of sport which you never see. A place of low-ranked players with names that ring no bell and faces that offer no flicker of recognition, who play matches on lesser courts which no TV camera has ever visited.
These are players who insist they have potential but whose bank balances haven't yet confirmed that. Players who believe they are on the cusp of something but right now are left with close to nothing.
