SINGAPORE – Three-time Grand Slam quarter-finalist Ajla Tomljanovic of Australia has been awarded a wild card for the Jan 27-Feb 2 Singapore Tennis Open, organisers announced on Jan 17.
The 31-year-old said in an Instagram video: “I’m so excited to play at the new Kallang Tennis Hub, it’s going to be super exciting to play in the first edition of the tournament, so I can’t wait to see everyone and get going.”
Tomljanovic, who reached a career high of world No. 32 in April 2023, will join other stars such as world No. 14 Anna Kalinskaya and 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu.
Four-time Grand Slam doubles champions Elise Mertens (Belgium) and Wang Xinyu (China), who are ranked 34th and 37th in the women’s singles respectively, will also be part of the 32-player field in the main draw.
Three more wild cards will be announced at a later date.
Meanwhile, 2020 Australian Open winner Sofia Kenin and Argentina’s 96th-ranked Nadia Podoroska have withdrawn from the main draw.
Their places will go to Ukraine’s world No. 100 Yuliia Starodubtseva and 98th-ranked Rebecca Marino of Canada.
Tickets, which are priced from $18 for a day ticket and up to $286 for a three-day pass, can be purchased via the Sports Hub website.
