SINGAPORE - For so long divided, the local track and field fraternity put on a show of unity when it gave Lien Choong Luen and his team a strong mandate to form the new leadership of national body Singapore Athletics (SA) on Friday (Sept 25).

Each member of the nine-person slate garnered at least 14 of the 17 valid votes cast by SA's affiliates, and there is hope that the sport, bedevilled by infighting for years, is ready for a fresh start.
