SINGAPORE - The Republic's national women's table tennis team have been drawn in the same group as third seeds Netherlands for next month's World Team Table Tennis Championships.

Feng Tianwei and Co, the fifth seeds, were drawn in Group C and avoided being in the same group as powerhouse China and second seeds Japan, as well as tricky opponents like Hong Kong. The Singaporeans will also play Poland, Ukraine, France and Belarus in the round-robin stage.

The top three teams in each group after the initial stage will proceed to the knock-out rounds, with the group winners earning a bye into the quarter-finals while others play in the round of 16.

The event, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur from Feb 28-March 6, is one of the most important tournaments in the lead-up to the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. The Republic finished with a joint bronze at the last team edition in 2014.
