Stags one draw away from ACL2 last 16

After drawing 1-1 with South Korea’s Pohang Steelers on Nov 6, BG Tampines Rovers need just another draw in their next AFC Champions League Two Group H match at Bishan Stadium against Philippine side Kaya-Iloilo on Nov 27 to qualify for the round of 16. Against Pohang, the Stags opened accounts through Glenn Kweh (56th), but substitute Cho Sang-Hyeok (87th) equalised for the hosts.

In the group’s other match, Thailand’s BG Pathum United beat Kaya-Iloilo 2-1 to keep alive their hopes of reaching the knockout stage. The Stags remain top of the group with 10 points after four games, followed by Pohang (seven), Pathum (six) and Kaya-Iloilo (zero).

In Group G, the Lion City Sailors’ hopes of advancing are hanging by a thread after a 2-1 loss to Bangkok United in Thailand. They must now beat Persib Bandung and Selangor in their remaining games and hope that results elsewhere go their way.
