Artistic swimming has taught us a lesson about sport

A few years ago while researching a story on artistic swimmer Debbie Soh we met at the Toa Payoh pool for a photo shoot. Hold on, she politely said. Make-up was being applied.

Gelatine in her hair. Lipstick. Glittery eye shadow.Thick layers of water-resistant stuff. Much of it exaggerated because the judges sit at a distance, maybe 15m away.
