SINGAPORE – Singapore’s table tennis players will aim to win their fifth and sixth golds of the SEA Games on Monday night, after Feng Tianwei and Co earned spots in the men’s and women’s team finals.
Led by world No. 4 Feng, the women’s team were first to be through. They were largely untroubled by Malaysia in the semi-finals, beating their Causeway rivals 3-0 in the best-of-five tie.
Yu Mengyu, playing in first singles, beat women’s singles runner-up Ng Sock Khim 3-2 before Feng routed Lee Rou You 3-0. Isabelle Li then posted a straightforward 3-0 victory over Angeline Tang in the third singles.
Feng said: “I think we performed as expected for this match. What’s more important is the final later on. The team performed pretty well, and I’ve also been working on getting my form together.”
They will play Thailand in the final, which takes place at 6pm. The men’s team, led by world No. 15 Gao Ning, swept past Indonesia 3-0.
