SINGAPORE - A total of $220,000 in cash prizes will be available across 16 sports and five para sports in the Singapore National Games (SNG).

Winners of the various sports will win cash prizes of up to $300 for individual open category events, and up to $1,500 for open category team events.

GetActive! Singapore organising committee chairman Lai Chin Kwang said: "We recognise the intrinsic values and the collective memories SNG can bring to the community. It gives everyone the opportunity to have fun, demonstrate mutual respect, fair play and play as One Team Singapore while celebrating National Day.

"This can definitely bring us closer through training and competing together. Beyond this, the cash prizes will add some spice to the competition and spur the participants to do better.

"It is good for budding talents and sports enthusiasts at-large to pit themselves against the best. It's an opportunity to be seen as a diamond in the rough, and potentially get spotted by national and club coaches."

The SNG takes place from July 30 to Aug 7 as part of GetActive! Singapore, the week leading up to Singapore's 51st birthday that will consist of sports festivals, community initiatives and competitions island-wide.

SNG registration closes on Friday (July 15). Interested participants can register online or at all ActiveSG Sports Centres.
