Singapore cyclist Dinah Chan has announced she is ready to defend her gold medal at the SEA Games next month.
Chan bagged the Republic's first cycling gold in 16 years when she won the individual time trial at the 2013 Games in Myanmar. Next month, she will ride in three events - the individual time trial, the mass start road race and the criterium.
She said: "I have to defend my gold. That's the expectation I have for myself.
"The first time you win, you're like 'wow'. But second time, you are expected to win, otherwise you're just a failure, or a fluke. That's the harsh reality."
Chan is part of an eight-strong team who will represent Singapore at the biennial regional sports meet next month. The cycling competition takes place from June 9-14 at the Marina Bay South area.
