SINGAPORE - Peter Gilchrist bagged Singapore's first cue sports gold medal of the 2015 SEA Games after he stormed past Vietnam's Thanh Binh Nguyen 501-291 in the Men's English billiards Singles (500) final at the OCBC Arena on Sunday.
Gilchrist has bagged gold in the past three SEA Games in the English billiards Singles event and he made it a sweet victory for himself in the first-ever 500-point event of the Billiards singles.
A three-time world billiards champion, Gilchrist will be competing in three more events at the Games and his sights are already set on bagging more golds.
"One down, three to go," he said, as he will be competing in the English billiards singles, English billiards doubles and English billiards team event.
"This is a sweet feeling to get the gold but hopefully there is more to celebrate in the coming days."
