SINGAPORE - The Republic's Loh Kean Yew lost to Malaysia's Mohamad Arif Abdul Latif 0-2 in a SEA Games badminton men's singles semi-final at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Monday evening.
The match saw Kean Yew, 17, lose the first game 20-22 before conceding the second 15-21, even though he had initially led 10-5.
When asked about his loss, Loh, who earned a bronze medal for his efforts, remarked: "I was too anxious to win, my opponent was much more experienced and I gave myself a bit too much pressure."
In the men's doubles, Danny Bawa Chrisnanta and Chayut Triyachart lost to Indonesia's Ricky Karandasuwardi and Pratama Angga 12-21, 18-21 in the semi-finals too.
