SINGAPORE - Brunei emerged victorious in a tightly-contested match against Myanmar, winning 56-47 in the first match of the second day of the netball competition at the OCBC Arena on Monday.

The match was evenly fought all the way, with Brunei just managing to outscore their opponents to lead 30-25 at half-time.

Both teams scored 13 points each to stay neck and neck in the third quarter. A resurgent Myanmar threatened to cause an upset in the fourth quarter, closing the gap to just two points with just eight minutes left in the game.

However, Brunei pulled ahead soon after, capitalising on several mistakes and sinking several key shots to win 56-47, to the disappointment of the Myanmar fans.

Myanmar captain and goal shooter Kyaw Khin Sandar was on fire, scoring 42 goals, but was unable to propel her team to a win.
