SINGAPORE - Victoria School (VS) defeated East View Secondary School (EVSS) 3-2 in thrilling fashion to win the 2016 B Division boys' floorball title.

The teams were tied 2-2 until the final minute of the match, when a last-gasp goal by Adib Fahim Norishaam gave VS their second B Division floorball title.

"I felt proud to score the goal, because it showed that we fought really hard until the end of the match and did not give up until the final buzzer. We were definitely motivated to get back the title after our loss last year." said match-winner Adib, 16.

VS were runner-up last year after losing to Catholic High 4-2 in the final.

"We wanted to win for the seniors who were on the team last year. They came to our trainings and really encouraged us," said VS captain Ryan Tham, 16.

EVSS captain Dani Zikry Abdul Kadir conceded that while the loss was disappointing, VS were simply the better team on the day.

"I'm really proud of my team. We were focused from the start, even though there was a huge crowd. We really have to give it to VS, they played well," said Dani, 16.

In the B Division Girls' tournament, Bukit Merah Secondary School (BMSS) defeated Orchid Park Secondary School 10-3. BMSS were also driven by a hunger to win after being knocked out in the semi-finals last year. They were therefore unable to defend their 2014 title.

"We promised our teachers that we would get back the title we lost last year, so we worked hard in training," said BMSS captain Nureen Farishah Zubairi, 16.

"For some of us, this is our last year in BMSS, so we really wanted to achieve something for our school," said Edelyn Grace A. Embile, 16, who scored 4 goals.
