At the recent SEA Games in the Philippines, Singapore's sailors won one gold and five silver medals in what was the sport's worst performance at the biennial event since 1991.

As a regional sailing powerhouse, the Republic had won at least four titles at each edition of the Games from 2007 till 2017.
