SINGAPORE – Singaporean golfer Sydnie Ng emerged victorious at the Singapore Junior Masters as she clinched the girls’ B Division (Under-16) title on Oct 2.
The 13-year-old carded an even-par 72 in the final round to sign for an even-par 216 total at the Laguna National Golf Resort Club, three strokes ahead of compatriot Passion Hsu (73). China’s Xu Ningyao (74) was third with a four-over 220 total.
The St. Joseph’s Institution International student said: “I’m happy I won the B Division girls’ title against a quality field. It shows my hard work is paying off.
“But it’s far from over and I need to constantly improve my game and build on my mental and physical condition now.”
Her performance over the three days also placed her second in the overall girls’ category, three strokes behind the winner, Thailand’s Arisa Bintachitt (68) who carded a three-under 213 total.
Arisa’s compatriot Bhumkit Pitchayasaowapak claimed the overall boys’ titles after carding a two-under 70 to record a 10-under 206 total.
